WAFHS Scholarship

WAFHS Scholarship

Application Due September 30, 2026

Honoring two of our members, this scholarship helps an existing member continue their growth and development as a harper.

The WAFHS Lever Harp Music Scholarship program, named in memoriam for Faye H. Parker and Mary Jane Edwards, began in the spring of 2004 and continues into the current year.

The WAFHS Scholarship is available any member of WAFHS (age 14 or older anytime during the 2026 calendar year) who applies. One major scholarship for $500 will be awarded annually with a check made payable to the selected applicant. An individual may only receive one scholarship in a calendar year. The awardee may reapply for a second consecutive scholarship in a following year if their application is selected to receive the scholarship. No scholarship will be awarded to any individual for a third year. Current officers and board members of WAFHS are not eligible to apply. For the major scholarship a variety of criteria will be considered, including: (1) a written recommendation of a current or former teacher (preferably harp/music) or other adult mentor (not related to the applicant); and (2) a completed Applicant Information form. The Teacher/Mentor reference should have knowledge of the applicant’s ability and desire to further their musical performance and/or the repertoire of the lever harp. Financial need of the applicant may also be included in the applicant’s narrative and will be considered by the evaluators.

Application materials can be downloaded here. All application materials should be postmarked or emailed no later than September 30, 2026 to the appropriate address on the application. To receive confirmation of receipt of your application you must provide an email address in your application package. Applications may be evaluated by an independent panel or the scholarship committee. Winner will be notified no later than October 10, 2026. The WAFHS does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, color, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or associational preference. The WAFHS organization reserves the right to not award the scholarship if the quality of applications is not deemed sufficient to make the awards. Thank you for your interest in the WAFHS lever harp scholarship program.
